Drs. I. (Ivo) ten Hove studeerde af als tandarts aan het Academisch Centrum Tandheelkunde Amsterdam (ACTA) in 1998. De studie geneeskunde werd aan de Vrije universiteit te Amsterdam gevolgd en het artsexamen werd afgelegd in 2006. Van 2001- 2005 werd hij opgeleid tot specialist Mondziekten, Kaak- en Aangezichtschirurgie (MKA) in het VU medisch centrum, Amsterdam (Opleider: Prof. Dr. I. van der Waal). Zijn perifere opleiding tot kaakchirurg vond plaats in Alkmaar gevolgd door een stage Aangezichtstraumatologie in Newcastle, Engeland. Na de specialisatie tot kaakchirurg werd een tweejarige fellowship Hoofd-Hals Chirurgie in het Erasmus MC te Rotterdam afgelegd (2011 en 2012). Van 2007 tot 2018 was hij verbonden aan MC Slotervaart te Amsterdam. Sinds 2009 is hij tevens werkzaam in het Erasmus MC te Rotterdam.
